Biography
Owen Eddy is a composer, arranger, media composer, and saxophonist specializing in new music. His music has been described as having a “refreshing aura of optimism and openness” (Michael Parloff, Retired Principal Flutist, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra) as well as “attention-grabbing” and “clever” (Wolfram Koessel, Cellist, American String Quartet). Compositions by Eddy have been recorded and performed by the Out of Bounds Ensemble, American Creators Ensemble at the University of Oregon, Ara Duo, Lyra Ensemble, Belmont University New Music Ensemble, and the Winthrop University Jazz Voices. Eddy has been commissioned to arrange for the 25th Infantry Division Army Band, 82nd Airborne Division Army Band, 392nd Army Band, Sweet Tea Shakespeare Company, Truetone Honeys, and the 504 Supreme Jazz Ensemble. He is currently the Composer in Residence for the Sweet Tea Shakespeare Theatre Company.

Eddy’s music has been performed at the Manhattan School of Music Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Concert, New Jersey Flute Society Flute Fair, Oregon Bach Festival Composer’s Symposium, Belvedere Chamber Music Festival, and the University of South Carolina Modern Dance Showcase. His arrangements have been performed at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Fayetteville Woodpecker’s Baseball Stadium and the Grand Illumination ceremony at the Virginia Governor’s Palace.

Eddy has received artist grants from the North Carolina Arts Council, Cumberland County Arts Council, and the York County Arts Council. An album of his most recent chamber ensemble project Just Drop a Pin was released September 2018 by the Out of Bounds Ensemble. An album of his most recent folk music A Passing Life was released in March 2019.

Eddy is a saxophonist for the U.S. Army and is currently stationed in Oahu, HI with his wife Heather and their two sons. In the last 5 years they have lived in Rock Hill SC, Nashville TN, Fort Lee VA, Fort Bragg NC, and now Oahu HI. Whenever he is not working you can find him reading science fiction, baking bread, and misspelling words. Eddy holds a M.M. Composition, Belmont University, and a B.M. Saxophone, Winthrop University.
